| How much does an author visit cost? You may choose from two options: 1. The visit is free of charge. The author is compensated by book sales promoted by the school. How can I contact the author?
How can I order books prior to the author visit? You can order directly through this site, or contact me via email. What are the school's responsibilities? The school should have one faculty member as a point of contact. This person will be responsible for distribution and collection of order forms and posters, preparing the presentation room including having orders in the room ready for signing, greeting the author on the day of the visit, and giving a quick tour of necessary facilities. The primary responsibility of the school is to encourage book sales by getting students excited about the visit. See the Tips for Success page for more information. What is the author's responsibility? Unlike many authors, I bring most of my own equipment and supplies. The school will not be asked to provide any equipment other than a screen, an A/V cart, and a table for book signing. I do request that these items be set up prior to my arrival. I will provide an educational, and entertaining presentation. Each student who orders a book will received a copy signed by me on the day of the presentation. I will provide a complimentary, signed copy of the book to the poster contest winner(s). What is the format of the presentation? The visit will consist of a 35-40 minute interactive presentation with the author followed by an autograph session. If students have participated in the poster contest, a winner(s) is also chosen. I believe the visit is better for everyone when students are excited about the visit, and participate in the presentation. The visit is designed for Kindergarten - 4th grade, but can be modified for younger and older children. I will do up to four presentations (minimum of 100 students), but please try to combine grades as this allows more time for a better assembly. A lot of time is wasted moving children to and from the assembly. |
